Russian Solitaire: how a round works

Take a moment with Russian Solitaire before moving to another game. Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Use the opening round to become familiar with the layout. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Yukon-style deal, same-suit building, no stock. Free solo play, no wagering.

Something to practise

Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round. Refer to the controls when needed.

What you need to achieve

Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Keep the controls in easy reach.

Step by step

1. Move any face-up card and its tail onto the next higher rank of the same suit. Kings fill empty columns.
2. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
3. Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Try this example

A heart 6 fits a heart 7, not a spade 7. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Keep the controls nearby.

One detail worth checking

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Check the rule before repeating the action. When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round.
